The California Zephyr also known as CZ or “Silver Lady” is a passenger train and it was jointly run by Burlington, Western Pacific Railroad, Chicago, Denver, Rio Grande Western Railroad and Quincy Railroad prior to the establishment of Amtak. The first train was labeled in San Francisco by Eleanor Parker and it made its first departure on March 19, 1949. It is now operated by Amtrak between Chicago migrating through Illinois, Emeryville and California. California Zephyr covers a longest route of 2,438 miles and is a mode of enjoying the scenic views of the Sierra Nevada and upper Colorado River valley in the Rocky Mountains.
